Niral
Sort mixed-up words back into three Tamil sentences, in Tamil script or Tanglish.
Every day: One puzzle a day, the same for everyone: the words of three Tamil lines, such as Thirukkural couplets or film dialogues, mixed together to sort back into order. New puzzle: Midnight local time.

Niral is a daily Tamil word puzzle. The words of three lines are shuffled together, and you swap them back into place while each tile shows whether it is in the right spot, in the right line but the wrong spot, or belongs to a different line. It can be played in Tamil script or in Tanglish.
About Niral
Niral (நிரல்) is a small daily puzzle for Tamil speakers. Each day it takes three lines of Tamil, most often well-known film dialogues and on some days couplets from the Thirukkural, splits them into words and mixes all the words together across the three rows.
You tap two words to swap them. Each tile is coloured to show its state: in the correct spot, in the correct line but the wrong spot, or belonging to a different line altogether. When all three lines read correctly they turn green and the puzzle is solved. There is an Undo button, and the result screen shows your time and number of moves and compares them with the average of other players, along with a day streak and a share button.
A switch at the top changes the whole game between Tamil script and Tanglish (Tamil written in Latin letters), so it also works for people who speak Tamil but do not read the script. A short animated tutorial walks through a sample puzzle before you play, and there is a light and dark theme.
It suits fans of Tamil cinema and literature who enjoy spotting a familiar line from a few scattered words. It is free and needs no account.
How to play Niral
- Open Niral and choose Tamil script or Tanglish.
- Press Play today's game (or How to play for the tutorial).
- Tap two words to swap their places.
- Read the tile colours: correct spot, correct line but wrong spot, or a different line.
- Keep swapping until all three lines turn green, then compare your time and moves.
Tips
- Look first for words that only fit one kind of line, such as the distinctive old Tamil of a Thirukkural couplet.
- Fix tiles that belong to a different line before ordering words within a line.
- If you recognise the film or the couplet, say the line in your head and place words in order.
- Fewer swaps means a better score, so think before each tap.
