What's the Connection? (מה הקשר?) is Haaretz's daily Hebrew grouping game in the style of Connections. Sixteen words appear on the board, and you find the four groups of four that share a hidden link.

About What's the Connection? (Haaretz)

מה הקשר?, What's the connection?, is the Connections-style game in the games section of the Israeli newspaper Haaretz. Each day a new board of sixteen Hebrew words appears, the same for every player.

You select four words you think belong together and submit them. If they form one of the hidden groups, the group is revealed and coloured; if not, it counts as a mistake. The groups range from straightforward to tricky, and the hard part is spotting words that seem to fit more than one group.

It sits beside Haaretz's other daily games, a Hebrew Wordle, a word chain, a logic riddle and a shape puzzle. Some of the games are for subscribers.

It suits Hebrew speakers who enjoy the New York Times' Connections and want a version in their own language.

How to play What's the Connection? (Haaretz)

  1. Look at the sixteen Hebrew words.
  2. Select four you think share a link.
  3. Submit; a correct group is revealed in colour.
  4. Avoid wrong guesses, which count as mistakes.
  5. Find all four groups.

Tips

  • Look for words that could fit two groups and hold them back.
  • Find the most specific link first.
  • Read each word in more than one sense.
