Duplixo's daily Queens board, puzzle No. 899: an eight by eight grid of colour regions with Hint, Show solution, Clear and New puzzle buttons

Duplixo is an independent puzzle site with about a dozen daily games on one page: its own five-letter word game Quintle, the meaning-based Nearle, and its own versions of Queens, Zip, Tango, Pips, Tradle, Pinpoint and other popular dailies. Each game has a new numbered puzzle every day, plus hints, a dated answer page and extra practice puzzles. It is free with ads and needs no sign-up.

About Duplixo

Duplixo describes itself as an independent daily-puzzle site, built and written by a small team and supported by ads. Its games page gathers every daily it offers, grouped by kind: logic boards, word games, a geography game, a trivia game and a shelf of evergreen classics.

Two of the dailies are its own: Quintle, a five-letter word guessing game with six tries, where each tile shows by colour and a small corner mark whether the letter is right, misplaced or absent; and Nearle, a Contexto-style game where every guess comes back with a rank for how close in meaning it is to the hidden word, with no limit on guesses. The rest are its own playable versions of games that started elsewhere: Queens, Zip, Tango, Patches, Crossclimb and Pinpoint in the style of LinkedIn's games, Pips in the style of the New York Times, plus Squaredle, Squareword, Waffle and Tradle.

Every daily is numbered and dated, so all players get the same board on the same day. The logic boards keep a running count of placed pieces, a timer and a clash check, and offer a Hint button that places the next forced move, a full solution and a New puzzle button for practice. Each game also links to a dated answer page with graduated hints, for players who are stuck on the original game.

The site also hosts Solitaire, FreeCell, Spider, Mahjong, Sudoku and 2048 as unlimited classics. It suits players who like to run through several short dailies in one place, and those who want a nudge rather than a straight answer.

How to play Duplixo

  1. Open the games page and pick a daily, such as Quintle, Queens or Tradle.
  2. Check the puzzle number and date at the top: that is today's shared puzzle.
  3. Read the game's How to play box, then play: type guesses in the word games, or tap cells on the logic boards.
  4. Use Hint for the next forced move or Reveal next clue in Pinpoint if you get stuck.
  5. Share your result, then press New puzzle or open another game for more.

Tips

  • Play Quintle first; it is the site's own daily and keeps a streak and guess distribution.
  • In Nearle, take the warmest guess so far and try words around its meaning rather than its spelling.
  • On the Queens board, mark ruled-out cells with the no-mark before placing crowns; the clash check rings any crowns that conflict.
  • Past Quintle puzzles can be replayed without touching your daily streak.

Questions

Is duplixo free?

Yes. The site says it is free to use and supported by ads, and the dailies play without an account.

Are these the official LinkedIn and New York Times games?

No. Duplixo's Queens, Zip, Tango, Pips and the others are its own versions in the style of those games, with their own boards. Quintle and Nearle are duplixo's own dailies.

When does a new puzzle come out?

The site does not state an hour. Each puzzle carries a number and the day's date, and a new one appears with each calendar day.
