The DUOLOCK logo

DUOLOCK is a daily logic game from the maker of Alphalock and Padlock. Each guess is checked against two hidden answers at once, and coloured blocks beside each board show how close you are to each. The main game hides two four-letter words to find in 12 goes, and number modes hide two four-digit codes.

About Duolock Game

DUOLOCK is the third daily puzzle by the inventor of the number game Padlock and the word game Alphalock, and it borrows from Quordle the idea of solving more than one answer with the same guesses. Every guess you type is scored against two hidden answers, and each board shows its own feedback, so one guess can tell you a lot about one answer and little about the other.

In the main four-letter mode the game hides two words and you have 12 goes to find both. Each guess must be four letters, and the small blocks to the right of each board change colour to show how close the guess is: right letter in the right place, right letter in the wrong place, or not there. Two number modes work the same way with four-digit codes: Basic gives you six goes and colours the digits themselves, while Advanced is the harder version.

The puzzles are numbered and shared by everyone each day, and a countdown shows the time to the next set. By default the day turns over at your local midnight, but you can switch the game to UTC. It suits players who like Mastermind-style deduction and Quordle's juggling of several answers.

How to play Duolock Game

  1. Pick a mode: the four-letter word game, or the basic or advanced number game.
  2. Enter a four-letter word (or four digits) as your guess.
  3. Read the feedback for each of the two boards separately.
  4. Use what each board tells you to narrow down both answers with every new guess.
  5. Solve both within the allowed goes (12 in the word game, 6 in the basic number game) and share your result.

Tips

  • Choose early guesses that test new letters on both boards at once.
  • Once one answer is solved, spend your remaining goes on the other, but keep checking both boards.
  • In the number game, a digit that is right on one board and absent on the other tells you a lot; note it down.
