SudokuWiki's Daily Codewords is a numbered codeword puzzle: a crossword grid with no clues, where every square holds a number and each number stands for one letter. Two letters are given; work out the rest from the shapes of the words, fill the key and cross off the alphabet.

About Daily Codewords (SudokuWiki)

SudokuWiki.org is best known for Andrew Stuart's sudoku solvers, but its daily puzzle menu also has a word puzzle: Daily Codewords. Each day's numbered codeword, #979 on 3 October 2026, is a full crossword grid where every white square carries a number from 1 to 26. The same number always means the same letter, and every letter of the alphabet is used at least once.\n\nTwo letters are solved for you at the start. From there you look for words where those letters and the pattern of repeated numbers suggest only one answer, enter the letters you find in the key beside the grid, and watch them appear across the board. An A to Z list down the side lets you cross off letters as you place them. You can play on the page or print the puzzle.\n\nThe page's comment thread is busy with regular solvers discussing the day's words, including the odd puzzle with more than one valid answer.\n\nIt suits crossword players who enjoy logic more than general knowledge, since a codeword needs no clues, only a good feel for English words.
