Wordsmyth
Transform one word into the next using the day's clues.
Every day: A numbered daily puzzle (for example No. 297 on October 2, 2026), the same for everyone. You start from a given word and apply a set of clues, each one changing your current word into another valid word, until all the clues are used and you reach the final word. A dated archive holds past puzzles. New puzzle: Once a day.

Wordsmyth gives you a starting word and a set of clues. Each clue tells you how to change your current word, by deleting, adding or altering letters, into another real word. You work through all the clues, in the order you figure out, until you reach the final word. There is a timed competitive mode and a relaxed casual mode.
About Wordsmyth
Wordsmyth is a free daily word game built around transforming words. Each day there is one numbered puzzle, the same for every player, with a starting word and a set of clues to work through.
Every clue describes an operation that turns your current word into another valid English word, such as deleting a part that matches a definition or adding letters. The clues are given out of order, so part of the challenge is spotting which one applies to the word you are holding. You type each result and continue until every clue has been used and the final word is reached.
You can play in a competitive mode, which times you and ranks your result against other players, or a casual mode with no scoring. A hint reveals the next operation at the cost of thirty seconds, and you can view the definition of any operation. Puzzles are edited by a curator credited on the page, and there is an archive of past days plus a tool to make your own.
It suits players who like word-ladder and transformation puzzles and enjoy decoding clues as much as spelling the answer.
How to play Wordsmyth
- Start from the day's given word.
- Read the clues, which are listed out of order.
- Find the clue that changes your current word into another real word.

- Keep going until every clue is used and you reach the final word.
Tips
- Scan all the clues first; the one that fits your current word is not always the next in the list.

- Save hints in competitive mode, as each one adds thirty seconds to your time.
