Three Clue drop 65 on 21 October 2026: the first clue, Hijacking, for 3 points with the year 2001, a box to name the film and Guess and Next clue buttons

Three Clue is a daily movie quiz played with words only. Each day's drop has five films, and for each you see a single one-word clue, with two more you can take at the cost of a point each. Everyone gets the same five films, so scores out of fifteen can be compared.

About Three Clue

Three Clue asks you to name a film from one word. There are no posters, stills or cast lists: the first clue is a single word, and if it is not enough you can take a second and then a third, each narrowing things down. A film named on the first clue is worth three points, on the second two and on the third one.

Each daily drop holds five films, so the best score is fifteen, and every player in the world gets the same five. The one strict rule is that no clue uses a word from the film's title, so for The Lion King you might see jungle, then stampede, then meerkat. Spelling is forgiving: small typos, missing punctuation and a dropped The still count, but a different film does not.

A new drop arrives at midnight UTC. Your streak, score history and stats live in your browser, with no account needed, and a streak saver covers one missed day and is earned back after seven days in a row. The archive holds every drop since the first on 18 August 2026; archive games score the same way but leave your streak alone. A wrong guess also tells you how many words are in the title, and from the third clue you can spend one of three daily lifelines: four films to choose from, or the initials of the title. Lifelines cost no points but show on your share card, and your total earns a rank from Needs Netflix up to Cinema Genius.

It suits film fans who like a quick word puzzle more than picture clues.

How to play Three Clue

  1. Open the site to start the day's drop of five films.
  2. Read the first one-word clue and type the film you think it points to; the release year is shown beside the clue.
  3. If you are not sure, take the next clue; each extra clue lowers the points for that film by one, and a wrong guess shows how many words the title has.
  4. On the third clue, guess, pass or use a lifeline: multiple choice or the title's initials, three a day across the five films.
  5. Move through all five films, then see your score out of fifteen, your rank and a share card.

Tips

  • Clues never use a word from the title, so think about plot, setting and famous scenes rather than title words.
  • Guessing on the first clue is worth three points, so a reasonable guess can pay off more than a safe third clue.
  • You can leave off a leading The; the game accepts it either way.
  • Use the archive to practise on past drops without risking your streak.
  • Lifelines only unlock on the third clue and you get three for all five films, so keep them for the films you have no idea about.

Questions

What time does Three Clue reset?

A new drop appears at midnight UTC, and the end of day screen shows a countdown to it.

How many films are there each day?

Five, each with up to three clues, for a possible fifteen points.

Does everyone get the same films?

Yes. The drop is the same for every player, so scores can be compared.

Can I play past drops?

Yes. The archive has every drop since launch on 18 August 2026. Archive games do not count toward your streak or stats.

Do I need an account?

No. Your score, streak and stats are kept in your browser, so they do not move between devices.

Are there ads in Three Clue?

We saw none: the game page loads no ad scripts or ad slots, only analytics, and play runs straight through.

A great daily game for movie fans! I love the idea of guessing films from just three one-word clues. It's quick to play, gets you thinking, and makes you want to come back tomorrow to try the next set. A simple but clever concept for anyone who enjoys movie trivia and guessing games.
