Pie Puzzle: Word Game (Taartpuzzel)
Find where the word starts on the pie, and which way round to read it.
Every day: One word around a pie of 9 or 12 slices a day, the same for every player, sometimes with hidden letters, timed, with a single attempt. New puzzle: One new set a day; the maker does not say at what hour.

Pie Puzzle is a timed word puzzle for iPhone and iPad, known in Dutch as taartpuzzel. The letters of a word sit one per slice around a pie, and you have to work out which slice it starts at and whether it runs clockwise or counter-clockwise. The daily puzzle is the same for everyone, with one attempt and a Game Center leaderboard for times.
About Pie Puzzle: Word Game (Taartpuzzel)
A pie has 9 or 12 slices with one letter in each. You tap the slice you think starts the word and then tap or swipe round; only the next slice in either direction lights up, and once you have swiped a few letters you can let go and the rest of the pie fills itself in. The letters you have read appear under the pie, with buttons to clear or give up. As an extra challenge, one or two slices can show a question mark instead of a letter, and the hidden letter is only revealed once you read the word correctly.
The Daily puzzle button opens the day's pie, the same for every player. Its size and difficulty vary from day to day: sometimes 9 letters, sometimes 12, sometimes with missing letters. You get a single attempt, the clock counts up, and your time goes on the daily Game Center leaderboard. Outside the daily, Play gives extra rounds where you choose the pie size, whether letters are hidden and the language.
Pie Puzzle is made by RocketScience IT, which also makes Knight Hop, and came to the App Store in July 2026. It is free, and the App Store page lists no in-app purchases or ads. It plays in English, Dutch or German, tracks your solves, times and streak, and has achievements for fast solves.

Tips
- Look for letter pairs that often start a word, such as TH or PH, and check both directions from them.
- Use the swipe shortcut: once the first few letters are right, let go and the pie completes the word for you, which saves time on the clock.
- Read the pie both ways before you tap; you only get one attempt at the daily.
- Practise with hidden letters turned on in Play so the question marks are less of a surprise on harder days.
