on guessdash.com

Paintiquity is one of the daily games on GuessDash. Each of its five rounds shows a gallery of paintings that were all made in the same year, from Renaissance panels to nineteenth-century landscapes, and you guess the year. The closer your guess, the more points you score.
About Paintiquity (GuessDash)
Paintiquity tests your sense of art history. A round opens a gallery of several paintings, each with a thumbnail you can enlarge for a closer look, and every painting in the gallery dates from the same year. Your job is to name that year. Clues are in the styles, subjects, clothing and techniques on show, and a single gallery can mix portraits, landscapes and genre scenes by different artists.
The daily board has five rounds and spans centuries: one board in October 2026 jumped between the 1510s, the 1690s and the 1880s and 1890s. The paintings come from Wikimedia Commons and are in the public domain, with titles, artists and sources shown.
Everyone gets the same board each day, and GuessDash, a site of small estimation, history and geography dailies, shows how others scored once you finish. It is free and needs no account.
It suits museum lovers, art history students and anyone who enjoys guessing the decade of an old picture.
How to play Paintiquity (GuessDash)
- Open Paintiquity on GuessDash to start today's board.
- Browse the gallery of paintings in the first round; open any one for a closer look.
- Decide which year they were all painted in, set it on the year slider and press Submit year.
- See the real year and your points, then move to the next gallery.
- Finish all five rounds and compare your score with other players.
Tips
- Look at clothing and hairstyles, which date a painting closely.
- Strong perspective and oil glazes point after the early 1400s; loose brushwork and bright light suggest the later 1800s.
- Use all the paintings in a gallery: one obvious work can date the whole set.
- Guess a middle year when torn between two periods to limit the loss.
