100 of Us day 17 on desktop: 'Of 100 adults in the world, how many can read and write?' with 20 of 100 figures filled in blue, Redo and Lock in below

100 of Us asks one question a day about the world's people: of 100 people on Earth, how many live in Africa, for example. You press and hold to count figures up to your guess, lock it in, and see the real number with its source. It is free, takes about a minute and needs no account.

About 100 of Us

100 of Us is one of the small daily games on Logicers, a site that publishes a handful of one-minute games about the real world, each with a new round at midnight. This one shrinks the world to 100 people and asks how many of them fit a fact.

The screen shows a block of 100 grey figures and the day's question. You press and hold, and the figures fill in one at a time; let go at your guess, hold again to add more, or tap Redo to start over. When you lock it in, the game shows the real number, how far off you were, and a link to where the figure comes from.

The numbers come from the World Bank's open data (World Development Indicators), rounded to whole people. Each fact you play becomes a stamp in an album kept in your browser, along with your streak, days played and average miss. Yesterday's question can be replayed in Practice, which does not count for the streak. A link from the end of the game lets a friend play the same day, and afterwards you both see who was closer, with no login.

It suits players who like quick estimation games and want to come away with one true fact about the world each day.

How to play 100 of Us

  1. Read the day's question: of 100 people in the world, how many fit it.
  2. Press and hold the panel; the figures are counted one by one.
  3. Let go at your guess, hold again to add more, or tap Redo to start over.
  4. Tap Lock in to see the real number, how far off you were and its source.

Tips

  • Think of the world population as about eight billion and turn known totals into a share of 100.
  • Keyboard players can use the arrow keys on the hidden slider and then press Lock in.
  • Use Practice to replay yesterday's question without touching your streak.
  • Read the question closely: some count all people, others only adults or workers, which changes the share.

Questions

When does 100 of Us get a new question?

Once a day at midnight; the question is the same for everyone.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the World Bank's World Development Indicators, rounded to whole people, with a source link after each answer.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no login, and your streak and album are kept only in your browser.

Can I play against a friend?

Yes. Send the link from the end of the game and your friend plays the same day's question; afterwards you both see who was closer. The scores travel inside the link, with no login.
