The Ovaldle board for the NASCAR Cup Series: Normal Daily, Expert Daily, Unlimited and Career tabs, a driver name box and the clue columns from Driver to State/Country

Ovaldle is a free daily NASCAR guessing game. Each day there is a mystery Cup Series driver to find in eight guesses, with every guess compared on car number, make, team, rookie year, wins, championships, crown jewel wins, age and home state. A Normal daily uses active drivers and an Expert daily reaches back to 1949.

About Ovaldle

Ovaldle takes the attribute-guessing format of Poeltl and the game -dles to stock car racing. You type a driver's name, and the board shows how that driver compares with the hidden one across ten columns: car number, make, team, rookie year, Cup Series wins, championships, crown jewel wins, age and state or country. Green is an exact match, yellow is close, and arrows tell you to go higher or lower.

There are two daily puzzles in the Cup Series. Normal daily draws from 182 Cup Series drivers of recent decades, which suits fans who follow the sport now. Expert daily draws from all 199 drivers in the game's data, back to 1949, including Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon. A driver qualifies with five or more Cup wins, a title, a place on NASCAR's 75 Greatest Drivers list or real historical fame. Each daily has its own streak and stats, and a Clue button helps when you are stuck.

The Xfinity Series and the Craftsman Truck Series have their own Ovaldle pages with a daily driver of their own, and an Unlimited mode lets you keep playing after the dailies. A separate Trivia page asks NASCAR questions each day. All stats count Cup Series results only, and retired drivers show the car, team and make from their last race.

It suits NASCAR fans who know the field and its history; the Expert pool is a real test of long memory.

How to play Ovaldle

  1. Open Ovaldle and pick Normal Daily or Expert Daily.
  2. Type a NASCAR driver's name and press Guess.
  3. Read the row: green is an exact match, yellow is close, and arrows point higher or lower for numbers.
  4. Use the clues to narrow down team, era and record, and guess again.
  5. Find the driver within eight guesses to keep your streak.

Tips

  • Start with a mid-career active driver to split the rookie years and win counts.
  • Car numbers can be shared by several drivers, which shows yellow rather than green.
  • For retired drivers, team and make come from their last race, not their best-known ride.
  • Crown jewel wins (Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, Southern 500, Brickyard 400) quickly separate the stars.
