The Movie to Movie daily challenge for 29 October 2026: Can you connect these two movies? above the posters for National Treasure and The Others joined by an arrow

Movie to Movie gives you a starting film and a target film each day. You pick an actor from the first film, then another film that actor was in, and keep going until you reach the target. The game shows the shortest possible chain, so you can see how close you came.

About Movie to Movie

Movie to Movie is a daily film-chain puzzle on movietomovie.com. Each challenge is a pair of films, a start and an end, and your job is to join them using the people who acted in them. From the starting film you choose a cast member, then one of that actor's other films, then an actor from that film, and so on until you land on the target.

The score is the distance: how many actors your chain passes through. Once you finish, the game shows the shortest path it knows for that pair, so a long route still counts as a win but you can see where a shorter link was hiding. Film and cast data come from The Movie Database (TMDB).

The daily challenge is the same for everyone and changes once a day, with a timer on the page counting down to the next one. Beyond the daily pair there is a Past Challenges list for days you missed, a random challenge button, and a Make your own mode where you pick both films yourself. Your wins are kept in a history stored on your own device, with no account.

A timer runs while you play, and a Modifiers panel adds optional limits: women only, no Marvel or DC films, or only the top three billed actors in each film. Clicking the arrow between the two posters flips the challenge, so you can start from the target instead.

It suits film fans who like six-degrees games: it rewards knowing character actors and ensemble casts more than release dates or box office figures.

How to play Movie to Movie

  1. Open movietomovie.com and start the daily challenge to see the starting film and the target film.
  2. Pick an actor who appeared in the starting film, using the filter box to search the cast by name.
  3. Pick another film that actor appeared in.
  4. Keep alternating between an actor and one of their films until you reach the target film.
  5. Compare your chain with the shortest possible path the game shows at the end.

Tips

  • Large ensemble films and franchise entries have long cast lists, so they make good stepping stones.
  • Work backwards too. If the target looks easier to reach from, click the arrow to reverse the pair.
  • Supporting and character actors often link more films than the headline stars.
  • Missed a day? Play it from Past Challenges, or use Make your own to set a pair for a friend.
  • For a harder run, switch on a modifier such as Top 3 leads only.

Questions

When does the Movie to Movie challenge change?

The game's code counts days from 10am New York daylight time, so the new pair arrives at 14:00 UTC each day. The page also shows a countdown to the next challenge.

How is the score counted?

By distance: the number of actors in your chain between the two films. The game shows the shortest possible distance after you finish.

Can I play earlier days?

Yes. Past Challenges lists the earlier daily pairs, and there is also a random challenge and a mode to make your own.

Do I need an account?

No. Your win history is stored on your own device.

What are the modifiers?

Optional toggles in the game screen that narrow which actors count: Women only, No MCU/DCEU, and Top 3 leads only. They make a pair harder to link.
