FilmLink board for 19 Oct 2026 on desktop: start film Night at the Museum with its director, writers, composer and cast to click, target The Devil Wears Prada

FilmLink is a free daily movie game in the spirit of six degrees. Each day everyone gets the same start film and a target, and you build a chain between them through actors, directors, writers and composers, aiming for the fewest links or the fastest time. There is an archive of every past pair, a Hard Mode with a daily House Rule, leagues and ranked multiplayer.

About FilmLink

FilmLink is a browser game about how films connect. Each day has a titled puzzle, such as Something Wicked or The Dude Abides, and a pair of films: one you start from, and a target you reveal when you press Start. Every player gets the same pair.

You move from film to film through the people in their credits. Pick an actor or a crew member from the start film, then one of their other films, then someone from that film, and so on until you reach the target. Every credit counts, so a cinematographer or a composer can be the shortcut an actor is not. You can aim for the shortest chain, or race the clock.

The home page shows the week's puzzles, and the archive keeps earlier days. There is also a guided tutorial with no clock and no score, a Hard Mode in beta whose daily House Rule limits the films you may use and scores shorter routes and bonus connections higher, ranked multiplayer, leagues and a daily leaderboard. You play as a guest under a given name; an account only carries your progress across devices.

The home page shows the coming week's puzzle titles, and the changelog shows fixes and new modes through the autumn of 2026.

It suits players who like the Kevin Bacon game and anyone who reads full credits lists, not only the poster names.

How to play FilmLink

  1. Open FilmLink and look at the day's start film.
  2. Press Start to reveal the hidden target film.
  3. Choose someone from the start film's cast or crew, then one of their other films.
  4. Keep stepping from film to person to film until you reach the target.
  5. Finish in as few links, or as fast, as you can, then share your result.

Tips

  • Look for prolific character actors and composers; they link far more films than stars do.
  • Work backwards in your head from the target: who in its credits also worked in the start film's era or genre?
  • Directors who reuse the same actors make good bridges between their films.
  • Try the tutorial first; it is untimed and unscored.
