Gram Jam is a tile swapping word game. Its dated daily boards ask you to make words along rows and columns by swapping letters; every word made clears its tiles, and the aim is to empty the board within the swap limit: 18 swaps for the Mini and 20 for the 6x6 Daily.

About Gram Jam

Gram Jam plays like a match-three game with words. Letters sit in a grid, and you swap two tiles to form words reading along a row or down a column; formed words are cleared from the board, which brings new arrangements into play.

There are two dated puzzles each day. The Mini asks you to clear the board in 18 swaps, and the Daily (Mini too easy?) gives you 20 swaps to clear a 6x6 board. Each has an archive of earlier dates. A third mode, Classic, is open-ended scoring: make words of four letters or more for points without running out of swaps, with a leaderboard.

The site has a dark mode, an account option and a Discord community.

It suits players who like both word games and swap puzzles such as Waffle or match-three games.

  2. Swap two tiles to line up a word along a row or down a column.

Tips

  • Look for words that use awkward letters first; they are hardest to place later.
  • Plan a few swaps ahead: one swap can set up words in both directions.
  • Short words clear fewer tiles, so aim for longer ones when the swap budget is tight.
  • Practise in the Mini before the 6x6 Daily.
