Clear a hand of cards in as few moves as you can, three rounds a day.

Discard is a daily card puzzle in three rounds. Each round deals a hand you must clear by discarding groups: two or more of a suit, two or more of a rank, or a run of three or more. Do it in three moves for three stars; the rules get stricter each round.

About Discard

Discard is a short daily card puzzle with a retro terminal look. Each day's deal is generated from the date, so every player gets the same three hands.

The goal in each round is to clear every card from your hand in as few moves as possible. A move discards a group: any two or more cards of the same suit, any two or more of the same rank, or three or more in consecutive order. The rules tighten as you go. Round one allows everything; round two needs at least three cards for a same-rank set; round three needs runs of four or more and sets of three or more, with a bigger hand.

Clearing a hand in three moves or fewer earns three stars, five or fewer earns two, and any clear earns one. Undo lets you take back a move and Hint reveals a valid group. Your stars and streak are tracked day by day.

It suits card players who like gin rummy groupings and want a puzzle that takes a few minutes.

How to play Discard

  1. Open playdiscard.com to get today's first hand.
  2. Select a group of cards: two or more of a suit, two or more of a rank, or three or more in a row.
  3. Discard groups until your hand is empty, using as few moves as you can.
  4. Play all three rounds as the rules tighten, and collect up to three stars per round.

Tips

  • Big suit groups clear many cards at once, but can break up runs you need later.
  • Plan the last two moves first: what is left should form one valid group.
  • Use Undo freely to test a line before committing.
