Wissenstest des Tages (Die Zeit)

About Wissenstest des Tages (Die Zeit)

The quiz team at the ZEIT newsdesk writes a new Wissenstest des Tages every day. The eight questions mix the main news of the last few days, such as what a minister said or how a UN meeting went, with general knowledge, from the meaning of a word to what goes into liquorice.

Each question has three answer options and only one is right. Your score counts the correct answers and the time you took, so speed matters if you want a place in the daily highscore, which needs a free ZEIT account.

After the eighth question you see your statistics for the day and how you compare with other players. Under Meine Antworten you can go through each question again, see what share of players got it right, and follow links to ZEIT articles on the subject. A menu at the top of the quiz opens the last 20 editions, so missed days can be caught up.

The quiz is free and plays in the browser or in the ZEIT app. It suits German speakers who want a short daily check on how well they follow the news.
