Solitile is a daily solitaire game played with word cards instead of suits. You flip cards from a pile, move them between columns and goal slots, and clear each family of related words once it is complete, with only three slots for all the families.

About Solitile (Knotwise Games)

Solitile is one of the daily puzzles from Knotwise Games. Instead of suits and ranks, the cards carry words that belong to themed families, and a crowned card opens a goal slot for its family. You draw from the pile to bring cards into play and drop face-up cards onto slots or columns until each family is gathered and cleared.

There are fewer goal slots than families, so slots get reused and the order in which you clear families matters. To make sure every deal can be won, the game builds each board backwards from a finished state, laying families in bands of three, one per slot. The three crowned cards visible at the start are always the families that clear first.

A new deal arrives every day at midnight Eastern time and is the same for everyone. Monday has the fewest families and shortest words, and both grow toward the weekend, when up to seven families compete for three slots. Since July 2026 each day is a hand-authored pack with a light theme. The last seven days are free in the archive; older deals back to the June 2026 launch need an upgrade. Restarting costs nothing.

How to play Solitile (Knotwise Games)

  1. Tap the pile to flip its top card face-up.
  2. Open a crowned card to give its family a goal slot.
  3. Move face-up cards, or the pile's top card, onto a slot or a column.
  4. Gather every word of a family in its slot to clear it and free the slot.
  5. Clear all the families to finish the deal.

Tips

  • Open all three visible crowns straight away; they are always the first families to clear.
  • When a word could fit two families, leave it; later reveals usually settle the question.
  • If a line goes wrong, restart: nothing is scored against you.
