Skill Check board from the Google Play listing: a cartridge in the console, a hand of three cartridge cards, a synergy bonus banner, three hearts and a 1,500 point target

Skill Check is a browser trivia game about video games built around cards. Each day brings a new theme for everyone, and you slot cartridge cards into a console to start trivia rounds, scoring for correct and quick answers. Cards from the same franchise combine into score multipliers, and each stage has a target to reach before the next, harder one.

About Skill Check

Skill Check is a free daily trivia card game for people who know their games. Its deck holds 1,594 illustrated cards from 86 gaming universes, from Pokémon and Minecraft to Dark Souls and Yu-Gi-Oh.

A new theme arrives at midnight UTC, such as Street Fighter II, Halo or Hollow Knight, and the day's run uses a fixed deck that is the same for every player, with scores posted to daily and all-time leaderboards. You draw a hand of cartridge cards, drag one into the console, and answer the timed questions that card generates; correct and fast answers score the most, with a bonus for a perfect run.

The run is split into stages with rising targets and three lives each, with a shop between stages. Cards from the same franchise unlock synergy multipliers, so part of the game is choosing which cartridges to play together. Answering all of a card's trivia masters it in your collection, which also holds titles and interface skins. Streaks are counted in UTC, weekly challenges were added in a later update, and an offline practice mode lets you learn the board without touching your score.

The daily is free with ads and can be played as a guest; a free account (Google, Discord or email) saves scores and progress across the web and the Android app. A one-time, pay-what-you-want upgrade from £1 unlocks the archive of past themes and unlimited replays, and removes ads. It suits gamers who enjoy trivia with a bit of deck strategy.
