Quizle, the daily trivia question from The Times

Quizle is a daily trivia game from The Times and The Sunday Times. Each day there is a single question, and you can open up to four hints if you need them; a correct answer with no hints earns Diamond, and each hint drops you a medal. It runs on the Times website and in the Times Puzzles app, which need a subscription.

About Quizle

Quizle is the one-question trivia game in The Times' puzzles section, played on the Times website and in the Times Puzzles app beside the crosswords, sudokus and the Picle photo game. It ran as a beta until the middle of 2025 and has been part of the daily line-up since.

Each day brings one question for every player. If you know it, answer straight away. If not, you can open hints one at a time, up to four, each narrowing the answer down. The game also times you, and the share result lets friends compare.

Your medal depends on how many hints you used: Diamond for a correct answer with no hints, then Gold, Silver and Bronze as you open more. If you have used all four hints and still miss, you have been Quizled, and the next question comes tomorrow.

It is the shortest game in the Times set, often a minute or two, and suits anyone who likes a pub quiz question with their coffee.

How to play Quizle

  1. Open Quizle in the Times puzzles section or the Times Puzzles app.
  2. Read the day's question and type your answer if you know it.
  3. If you are not sure, open a hint; you can take up to four, one at a time.
  4. Answer as soon as you can, since every hint lowers your medal.
  5. See your medal and time, then share your result.

Tips

  • Try an answer before the first hint; a Diamond needs no hints at all.
  • Think about what each hint rules out, not only what it points to.
  • Speed counts for bragging, but the medal comes from hints, so take a moment before you open one.
