Poker Puzzle's 5x5 card grid with a joker, 15 of 15 swaps left, a score of 650, and the Hands Formed panel listing two pairs and pairs by row and column

Poker Puzzle on YourLifeChoices deals a 5x5 grid of playing cards each day. You have 15 swaps to rearrange them into poker hands along every row, column and diagonal, and every swap you leave unused is worth 100 bonus points. A daily bonus rule changes which hands score extra.

About Poker Puzzle (YourLifeChoices)

Poker Puzzle is one of the games on YourLifeChoices, the Australian site for older readers, played in a frame on its games page. Each day brings a new 5x5 grid of cards, which can include a joker. Every row, column and the two diagonals is scored as a poker hand, from a pair worth 50 points up to a royal flush worth 5,000, and small markers around the edge show which lines currently hold a pair or two pair.

You have 15 swaps. Each swap exchanges two cards, and the Hands Formed panel shows every hand you have made and its points. Unused swaps are worth 100 points each, so the game is a balance between chasing a straight or a flush and saving swaps. Each day also has a bonus: on the day we looked it was Four of a Kind Fever, with four of a kind worth triple points. When you are happy you submit your score, which is ranked from Novice upward, and a stats page keeps your history.

An interactive tutorial walks new players through the rules, and there is a dark mode and a full-screen view. The game is free on the YourLifeChoices site, which carries ads.

How to play Poker Puzzle (YourLifeChoices)

  1. Open the day's Poker Puzzle and read the day's bonus rule.
  2. Look at the 5x5 grid: each row, column and diagonal counts as a poker hand.
  3. Swap two cards at a time to build better hands, up to 15 swaps.
  4. Watch the Hands Formed panel and the score bar as you go.
  5. Press Submit Score when done; unused swaps add 100 points each.

Tips

  • A card sits in a row, a column and sometimes a diagonal, so one swap can improve two or three hands at once.
  • Check the daily bonus first: a triple-points hand may be worth more than several pairs.
  • Flushes (750) and full houses (1,200) beat a handful of pairs, but each swap you spend costs 100 bonus points.
  • Use the joker where it completes the biggest hand.
