Today's One Up puzzle #943, a 6x6 grid with thick walls and red given numbers 4, 1, 2 and 3, a timer and a 1 to 6 number pad, at desktop size

One Up is a daily number logic puzzle by puzzle author Rodolfo Kurchan. Each numbered puzzle is a square grid split by walls, and every run of cells across or down must hold the numbers from 1 up to the run's length, with no repeats. The website has a new grid each day with a timer and notes, and paid and free apps collect more.

About One Up Puzzle

One Up looks simple: a square grid with some walls and a few numbers given. Every horizontal and vertical sequence of cells between walls must be filled with the numbers 1 up to the number of cells in it, in some order, with no number repeated in a segment. A one-cell gap takes a 1, a two-cell run takes 1 and 2, a three-cell run 1, 2 and 3, and so on, until the whole square is complete.

The website publishes one numbered puzzle a day (number 943, a 6x6, on 19 October 2026; number 926 was an 8x8 on 2 October). Everyone gets the same grid, a timer runs as you solve, and you can log in to keep track of your progress, though the puzzle plays without an account. The game has a number pad, a pencil for notes, undo and erase, a Learn section with worked examples, keyboard shortcuts and a practice mode in its menu. The site carries Google ads and offers a Pro subscription.

The puzzles are by Rodolfo Kurchan, and the site also offers puzzle sets from events such as Festival del Ingenio 15. The paid OneUpPuzzle app (published by KoolUncle SL on Google Play) adds 60 original puzzles to earlier dailies and plays offline, and a free Lite app has 40 more.

It suits sudoku and kakuro fans who want a fresh rule set, and the small grids make it a good daily habit.

Tips

  • Place 1 in every single-cell gap first.
  • A cell where a short run crosses a long one is limited by the short run.
