Motodle shows a tight close-up of a motorbike and gives you five guesses to name its make, model and year. Each day brings a new bike, the same for every player.
About Motodle
Motodle is a daily guessing game for motorbike fans, made by Chris Wallace and shared on Show HN in 2026. Its own description is short: guess the motorbike in five tries, with a new one each day.
The round starts with a close-up photo of part of the bike, an engine fin, a footpeg, a frame tube, a bit of bodywork. You choose a make from a list, then a model from that make's range, and set a year with plus and minus buttons, and the table on the right records each guess in three columns: make, model and year. Each wrong guess zooms the photo out to show more of the bike, five numbered tabs under the photo track your guesses, and a Give up button ends the round if you are stuck.
The photos come from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences, credited on the page. The header holds statistics with your streak, and a calendar of past days that can be played again as practice rounds. A colour-blind mode and a dark theme sit beside them. A new bike comes at midnight in your own time zone; the first was on 2 September 2026.
The maker calls it a hobby project, built for a puzzle with the morning coffee. It has no accounts, no cookies and no third-party scripts: your guesses and stats stay in your browser.
It suits riders and anyone who can tell a bike from a single swingarm.
How to play Motodle
- Open playmotodle.com and study the close-up photo.
- Choose a make, then a model from that make.
- Set the year with the minus and plus buttons or by typing it.
- Press Guess and read how close your make, model and year were.
- Use up to five guesses to name the bike.

Tips
- Look for brand details: a frame shape, a badge edge or a distinctive part often gives away the make.
- Get the make right first; the model list narrows once it is set.
- Missed a day? Open the calendar and play it as practice; it does not touch your streak.
