About Lex.Games Crossword

Lex.Games is a small puzzle site run by Lex Friedman, home to word games such as Conlextions, Lexicogs and Six Appeal along with a daily mini crossword. The full-size crossword is its premium offering: a 15x15 themed grid with a title, dated each day, in the familiar American style with symmetrical black squares.

The crossword started as a weekly Friday puzzle for subscribers in March 2024 and became daily at the end of that month, when the site moved to lex.games. The archive lists each puzzle by date and title, with titles such as 'Burger', 'Trucks' or 'Fast Food Joints' hinting at the theme. Sunday crosswords are marked free and can be played by anyone; the other six days need a logged-in premium account.

The player has autocheck and reveal options for a square, a word or the whole puzzle, and Lex.Games keeps daily and monthly leaderboards for subscribers across its games.

It suits regular crossword solvers who want one more themed daily grid with a light, pop-culture-friendly voice, and who are happy to support an independent constructor.

How to play Lex.Games Crossword

  1. Open lex.games/crossword and log in; on Sundays the puzzle is free for everyone.
  2. Read the puzzle title for a hint at the theme, then click a square and type answers to the Across and Down clues.
  3. Turn on Autocheck or use Reveal for a square, word or the whole grid if you get stuck.
  4. Fill the grid completely to finish, and look at the archive for earlier puzzles.

Tips

  • Work out the theme entries early: they are usually the longest answers and the title points at them.
  • Start with fill-in-the-blank clues, which tend to be the easiest way in.
  • Try the free Sunday puzzle first to get a feel for the constructor's style before subscribing.
