on tuneguessr.net

TuneGuessr plays a short clip of music and asks which country it is from. Each wrong guess shows how far off you are and in which direction, and unlocks more of the track plus hints such as the genre and instruments. There is one numbered puzzle a day, an archive of earlier ones and an Endless mode for more.
About TuneGuessr
TuneGuessr is a daily browser game that joins a music quiz with a map game. Its puzzles are numbered by day and began in 2026. Each one is a single track by an artist from some country, taken from the Jamendo music library under a Creative Commons licence, so the answer is rarely a famous song: you are listening for a style, a language or an instrument rather than a title.
The first clip is five seconds long. You type a country and submit it. The game answers the way Worldle does: a compass needle points from your guess toward the answer, and a colour from Freezing to Boiling tells you how close you are, with a Borders label when you have picked a neighbour. Every guess also lengthens the clip, to 10, 15, 20 and finally 30 seconds. From the second guess on, a written hint opens with each miss, in order: the genre, the instruments and then the region. You have five tries, and the answer shows the artist and track.
Past puzzles can be opened from a calendar archive, and an Endless mode serves one track after another for as long as you like. Your results, streak and guess spread are kept in the browser, and after a daily the game shows how other players did on the same clip. There is no account.
Most geography dailies show you a shape, a flag or a photo, and most music dailies ask for a song title. TuneGuessr asks you to hear where music comes from, which suits people who listen widely across world music, folk and regional pop, and anyone who likes Worldle-style direction clues.
How to play TuneGuessr
- Press play and listen to the first five seconds of today's clip.
- Type the country you think the music comes from and submit it.
- Read the compass and the colour to see which way and how far the answer is.
- Listen to the longer clip. From the second guess on, read the new hint as it opens: genre, then instruments, then region.
- Find the country within five tries, then share your result or open the archive.

Tips
- Listen for the language of any vocals before anything else; it often narrows the answer to a region.
- Use your first guess on a large, central country so the compass gives a useful direction.
- A Borders label means the answer is next door: try the neighbours in the direction of the needle.
- The region hint only comes with the fourth guess, so use the genre and instruments to get close before then.
Questions
When does TuneGuessr reset?
The game's How to Play says a new puzzle arrives every day at midnight EST.
How many guesses do I get?
Five. Each one lengthens the clip, and from the second guess on each miss also opens a written hint.
What hints are there?
A compass toward the answer and a closeness colour after every guess, plus the genre, the instruments and the region, one at a time.
Can I play past days?
Yes, earlier puzzles are in the archive.
Where does the music come from?
From the Jamendo library of independent music under Creative Commons licences, so most tracks are by lesser known artists.
Is there more than one puzzle a day?
The daily is one clip. The infinity button opens Endless mode, which keeps serving new tracks outside the daily.
