Thematik is a Puzzle Society word puzzle with a single clue. You guess letters one at a time to uncover the theme word that answers it and the six words related to it, and solve when you feel sure, aiming to use as few letter guesses as you can. A new one comes each day on GoComics, with a subscription.
About Thematik
Thematik is one of the Puzzle Society games from Andrews McMeel Universal, played on the GoComics puzzle pages, and the Puzzle Society keeps an archive of past days by date. The Puzzle Society's own line for it is that one clue is all you get to suss out the theme word and the six words related to it.
The board has two parts. At the top is the clue and the row of blanks for the theme word: in the game's art the clue 'Healthy ingredients make them' sits over SALADS, half revealed. Below is a block of blank tiles holding the six related words. Each letter you guess shows up wherever it appears, in the theme word and in the words below it, a little like hangman played across seven words at once.
The aim is to work out the theme and the words in as few letter guesses as possible, so the skill lies in choosing letters that reveal the most and in daring to solve before the board is filled in.
Thematik is included with a GoComics subscription. It suits players who enjoy hangman, Wheel of Fortune puzzles and themed word games.
How to play Thematik
- Open Thematik on the GoComics puzzles page and sign in with a GoComics subscription.
- Read the clue at the top: it points to the theme word.
- Guess a letter; it appears wherever it is used in the theme word and the six related words.
- Keep guessing letters until you can see the words, then solve them, using as few guesses as you can.
Tips
- Guess common letters first (E, A, S, R, T): they light up the most tiles at once.
- Solve the theme word early: once you know it, the six related words are much easier to guess.
- Look at the lengths of the hidden words for shapes you recognise before spending another guess.
