Signal is a browser memory game played on a 3D board of glowing cubes: watch which tiles light up, then tap them back. Five protocols change what you must remember, from order to timing. The Daily Calibration gives each player one run a day on the protocol the date picks, ranked on a daily leaderboard. It is free, with no account and no ads.
About Signal
Signal is a memory game by Mikey Lambo on itch.io. Instead of a flat grid it uses a 3D board of rim-lit cubes with bloom, spatial audio and combo feedback, which you can rotate. The task is the classic one: watch the signal, a set of tiles that light up, then reproduce it.
Five protocols change what has to be remembered. Spatial asks for the lit tiles in any order, Sequential in the exact order shown, Interference hides the pattern among flashing decoys, Rhythm asks for the timing between signals, and 2-Back has you say whether each tile matches the one two steps earlier. Three pacings set the pressure: Classic is timed with one mistake ending the run, Zen has no clock, and Sprint gives you 60 seconds. Two modifiers add colour channels with their own tones, or hide the board so you find each signal by stereo sound and pitch.
The Daily Calibration is the daily part. Once a day you get one run in Classic pacing on the protocol the date picks, so the five protocols take turns over five days. The cubes that light up are drawn at random for each player, so two people meet the same rules on a given day but not the same pattern. The run is worth double the in-game currency, builds the day streak, and is ranked on its own leaderboard beside the boards for each protocol, pacing and modifier. The game also keeps per-protocol mastery and a run history.
It has full keyboard play, screen-reader announcements of the board, reduced motion and colour-vision-conscious palettes, and plays offline once loaded. Headphones help in the sound-based modes. It suits players who like short memory tests and a daily score to compare.
How to play Signal
- Open Signal and choose Daily Calibration under the Engage button.
- Watch the board while the signal lights up a set of cubes.
- When the label reads Execute, tap or click the cubes to rebuild the signal as the day's protocol asks.
- Each level adds to the pattern. One wrong tile or running out of time ends the run.
- Give a display name if you want your score on the daily leaderboard.

Tips
- In Sequential, say the positions to yourself as they light up.
- Use headphones for Rhythm and the Resonant modifier, where sound is the clue.
- Practise a protocol in Zen, with no clock, before trying it in Classic.
- Rotate the board to a view you like before the signal starts.
Questions
Does Signal have a daily challenge?
Yes. The Daily Calibration is one run a day in Classic pacing. The date picks which of the five protocols it uses, and the run has its own daily leaderboard. The lit tiles themselves are random for each player.
Is Signal free?
Yes. It plays free in the browser on itch.io, with no account, no ads and no paid retries.
Can I play Signal without a mouse?
Yes. The game and its menus can be played entirely from the keyboard, and the board is announced to screen readers.
When does the Daily Calibration reset?
The game allows one daily run per UTC date, so a new attempt opens at midnight UTC.
