Today's Dead Centre round 1 at desktop size, revealed after placing: the true centre in blue and the player's red mark joined by a dashed line, scored 22%

Dead Centre is a daily spatial memory test from Bludle. A target appears on a blank grid, disappears, and you click where its centre was; eight rounds, each with a smaller target and a longer pause. Your accuracy is scored by distance and kept as a daily result and streak.

About Dead Centre

Dead Centre is one of the small browser games on Bludle. It asks one thing: how well you hold a position in your head once the thing that marked it is gone. A round target flashes up on a plain grid, the grid goes blank for a moment, and then you place a single marker where you think its centre was.

A day's game is eight rounds. The positions come from the date, so everyone who plays on the same day gets the same eight points. The rounds grow harder in two ways at once: the target shrinks from 36 pixels to 22, and it shows for a shorter time while the blank pause before you can answer grows longer.

Each placement gets an accuracy score from its distance to the true centre, measured against the size of the board so a phone and a large screen score alike. At the end you see your average accuracy, average distance and best round, and you can share a short line of your eight scores. A statistics panel keeps days played, your best day and your current streak.

It suits players who like the short perception games, rebuilding an angle, a colour or a shape from memory, and want one that takes a few minutes. It plays with a mouse, a finger or the keyboard, needs no account, and the page shows a Google advert slot below the game card, which fills after the day's result.

How to play Dead Centre

  1. Open Dead Centre and press Start round.
  2. Watch the target and fix your eye on its centre and its place on the grid.
  3. Wait while the target disappears and the board stays blank for a moment.
  4. Click or tap the point where you remember the centre, or move with the arrow keys and press Enter.
  5. Read your accuracy and distance, then start the next round until all eight are done.
  6. Check your daily result and share your eight scores if you like.

Tips

  • Note the target's place against the grid lines while it shows: the lines stay on the board when it vanishes.
  • Look at the centre, not the edge of the circle; the later targets are small, so an edge-based guess drifts.
  • Keep your pointer still during the blank pause and place it in one move rather than hunting around.

Questions

When does Dead Centre get new targets?

The eight positions are drawn from the date on your device, so a new set starts at your local midnight.

Is Dead Centre free?

Yes. It plays in the browser with no download and no account. The page carries a Google AdSense slot below the game card, shown with the day's result.

Does screen size change the score?

No. Distance is measured relative to the board's size, so the accuracy score means the same on a phone and a desktop.
