Programmdle Puzzle #663 on a desktop: guesses Python and JavaScript compared on eight columns, exact matches in teal and the paradigm a partial match in orange

Programmdle is a daily guessing game for developers. The answer is a programming language, framework, library or tool, and each guess is compared with it across eight attributes, such as category, paradigm, typing, era and origin, with colours showing exact and partial matches.

About Programmdle

Programmdle (styled pro⟨gramm⟩dle) works like the Loldle-style attribute games, but its subject is software. Each day has a numbered, dated puzzle and one hidden tech entry: a language such as Python, a framework, a library or a tool.

You type any entry the game knows, and your guess appears in a row showing eight clues compared with the answer: category, paradigm, use case, typing, era, origin, open source and platform. Teal means an exact match, orange a partial or overlapping match, grey no match, and blue a wrong era, with an arrow pointing to earlier or later. You have eight guesses, and a colourblind mode swaps teal for orange. The game knows 70 entries: 26 languages, 21 frameworks, 12 libraries, 8 developer tools and 3 runtimes, and the daily answer is one of them.

The game keeps statistics and a streak, a row of dots tracks your guesses, and a solved or lost board can be copied as a result to share, with a countdown to the next puzzle.

It suits developers and computer science students who enjoy trivia about the tools they use, and anyone who knows their Rust from their Ruby.

How to play Programmdle

  1. Open programmdle.dev; today's puzzle number and date sit above the board.
  2. Type a language, framework or tool in the box and pick it from the list.
  3. Read the eight columns: teal is an exact match, orange a partial one, grey none, and an arrow on the era shows whether the answer is earlier or later.
  4. Narrow it down and find the answer within eight guesses, then copy your result to share.

Tips

  • Start with a broad, well-known language such as Python or Java to learn the category and era.
  • Use the era arrow to bracket the release decade quickly.
  • Origin and open source clues often split similar candidates apart.
