Today's PopCultured on a desktop: clues Pac-Man, That's the Joint by The Funky Four Plus One and Yes Minister, an orange 1975 guess marked 3-5 years off and a green 1980 marked Nailed it

PopCultured is Histordle's daily pop culture guess-the-year game. Each day shows three releases from different kinds of media, such as a film, a song and a book, all from the same year, and you have six tries to name it. The colour of each guess tells you how close you are.

About PopCultured

PopCultured is one of the guess-the-year dailies at Histordle, beside Yeardle for history, Songle for songs and Moviedle for films. It mixes media: each puzzle draws its three clues from movies, TV, books, video games and songs, so you might get a film, a hit single and a novel side by side.

The question is always the same: which year were all three released? You type a year, and the box lights up in a colour that shows how close you are. You decide whether to go higher or lower, and you have six tries, two fewer than in Yeardle.

The mix is the fun of it: you may know the song cold and have no idea about the book, and one sure clue is often enough to get close. An optional hint gives a direction for your first guess, and an Unlimited version lets you keep playing.

A new PopCultured goes up every day at midnight Central Time. The game page carries banner ads above the board, on a phone and a desktop. It suits anyone with a broad memory for entertainment, and Yeardle players who want a lighter version.

How to play PopCultured

  1. Open PopCultured and read the three releases and what kind of media each is.
  2. Type the year you think all three came out.
  3. Read the colour of the answer box to see how close you are.
  4. Go higher or lower and guess again.
  5. Find the year within six tries and share your result.

Tips

  • Start with the clue you know best and treat the other two as checks.
  • Songs are often the easiest to date; charts and radio memories are sharp.
  • Video games and TV shows narrow the range a lot, since they only go back so far.
  • Use the colours to halve the range each time; six tries go quickly.
