Today's Musicle board: start Lenny Kravitz, target Ed Sheeran, move counter and timer, and his collaborators Avicii, Busta Rhymes and Chaka Khan with the linking songs

Musicle gives you a start artist and a target artist each day, such as Lenny Kravitz and Ed Sheeran. You hop from artist to artist through songs they made together or features, aiming to reach the target in the fewest moves. A Hard Mode, random challenges and a play-with-friends race sit beside the daily puzzle.

About Musicle.fun

Musicle at musicle.fun is a daily music connection puzzle made by Reuben Johns. Each day's puzzle is dated and shows two artist cards: the start and the target. The aim is to get from one to the other by moving only between artists who have actually worked together.

When you play, the current artist's page lists their collaborators with a photo and the song that links them, and a search box lets you jump to a name in the list. Picking one moves you to that artist, a move counter goes up, a timer runs, and a trail at the top shows the path so far. A Hint button helps when you are stuck. The puzzle is solved when you land on the target, and the fewer moves the better.

Everyone gets the same pair each day, and the game keeps your streak and stats. Hard Mode hides the list so you have to name the collaborators yourself, Play Random Challenge gives extra pairs, and Play with Friends lets a group race to the same target. The site also has a page on which collaborations count and an explorer of its artist graph.

It is a cousin of six-degrees and Wikipedia-chain games, and suits listeners who know who has featured on whose records across pop, hip-hop, rock and older music.

How to play Musicle.fun

  1. Open Musicle and look at today's start and target artists.
  2. Press Play Today's Challenge.
  3. Pick an artist from the current one's collaborations, or type a name in the search box, to move to them.
  4. Keep moving through collaborations toward the target artist, using a hint if you are stuck.
  5. Reach the target in as few moves as you can, then share your result.

Tips

  • Head for prolific collaborators such as big hip-hop and pop names: they connect to almost everyone.
  • Work backwards in your head from the target to someone you know links to it.
  • Band members count as links too, so a group can be a bridge between two solo careers.

Questions

What counts as a connection?

Real musical collaborations: songs the two artists made together, features, and band membership. The site has a page on which collaborations count.

Is the puzzle the same for everyone?

Yes, there is one dated puzzle a day for all players.

When does a new puzzle come out?

At midnight on your own device's clock, so the day turns over in your own time zone.

Is this the same as musicle.app?

No. Musicle.app is a different game about naming albums from a sample; this one is at musicle.fun.
