MLB Wordle (Draft Challenger)

MLB Wordle is part of Draft Challenger, a sports site that runs daily player boards for ten leagues beside its all-time draft game. Its own line is one player, follow the clues: a hidden ballplayer a day and a fixed number of guesses.

On the Wordle board you type a player's name and press Guess, and the row compares them with the answer on team, division, position, height, age and seasons. Each tile shows a match, a close miss or a miss, with arrows on the numbers, so every guess narrows the field. Eight names is the limit.

Classic is harder. Each day the board is set to Pitchers or Batters, and the answer can come from anywhere between 1871 and the current season, the deadball era and the recognised Negro Leagues included. The board opens with the era, the length of the career and a worked example, and the team is shown after four misses; at seven misses you get one more fact and the choice to reveal. Each guess is set against the answer's signature season, with columns such as ERA, WHIP, strikeouts, innings, wins and saves on a pitchers' day, coloured exact, close, similar or far.

Both boards change at midnight US Eastern time and keep separate streaks on your device, with no sign-up needed. Below the boards the same page has a daily all-time MLB draft. It suits fans who know both today's rosters and the record book.
