Expresso is a daily phrase-guessing game from Daydash, the makers of Contexto, Conexo and Letroso. Each day there is one secret expression in English, Portuguese or Spanish; the board shows how many words it has and how long each one is, and after every guess the letters change colour to show whether they sit in the right spot, in the right word, or somewhere else in the phrase.
About Expresso
Expresso takes the colour clues of Wordle and stretches them across a whole expression. The answer is an idiom or a common saying, such as "when pigs fly", and the board tells you up front how many words it has and how many letters are in each. Every guess has to fit that same shape, so you are guessing a full phrase at a time, not a single word.
The twist is the extra colour. A letter can be in the right spot, in the right word but the wrong position, or in the expression but in a different word. That last clue is what makes the puzzle: a letter that turns up in the first word of your guess may belong to the third word of the answer, and you have to work out where.
The game comes from Daydash, the studio behind Contexto, Conexo and Letroso. It launched in Portuguese in March 2026 and now has English and Spanish versions, each with its own expression of the day. There is no fixed number of guesses; the result you share counts your guesses and any hints you took. Past days are kept in an archive, and an unlimited mode gives you more expressions once the daily one is done.
The game is free with ads, and a paid Daydash Pass removes the ads across the studio's games. It suits players who like Wordle but want something closer to a crossword clue, where knowing sayings counts as much as letter logic.
How to play Expresso
- Open expresso.ac and pick English, Portuguese or Spanish.
- Look at the board: it shows how many words the expression has and how many letters each word has.
- Type a guess that fits that shape, word by word, and submit it.
- Read the colours: one marks a letter in the right place, one a letter in the right word but the wrong spot, and one a letter that is somewhere else in the expression.
- Keep guessing until the whole expression turns up, taking a hint if you are stuck, then share your guess count.

Tips
- Think of sayings that fit the word lengths before you think about letters: a two-letter word followed by a three-letter word narrows the field fast.
- Put short common words such as the, of, a and in into an early guess to learn which small words the expression uses.
- A letter marked as in the expression but in another word tells you something about every other word, so check each word slot before you place it.
- Hints count in your shared result, so save them for the last word or two.
