Einstein Enigmas (Puzzleship)

A phone-friendly Zebra Puzzle with emoji clues that check themselves.

on puzzleship.com

Einstein Enigmas #1023 for 19 October 2026 on desktop: four houses, each with candidate emojis for colour, food, vehicle and animal, and the six difficulty bulbs above the board

Einstein Enigmas is a Zebra Puzzle built for a phone. You fill a row of houses from a keypad of emojis, and the clues sit in a panel that strikes each one out when your grid satisfies it and turns it red when you break it.

About Einstein Enigmas (Puzzleship)

Einstein Enigmas belongs to the Zebra Puzzle family but changes how it is played and what the clues say. Each clue either puts an item in a numbered house or says two items share a house, and many do it in the negative, ruling a house out. There are no left, right or next-to clues at all.

Clues check themselves. A satisfied clue strikes itself out and a broken one turns red, so an early slip cannot quietly ruin a long solve. The puzzles grow further than their siblings, from four houses and four attributes to six houses and eight, with clue lists running from about ten to fifty or more. Colour is always one attribute; the rest change daily, from instruments to seafood.

Puzzleship publishes six enigmas of Einstein Enigmas a day, graded from very easy to ultra hard. Each day's enigmas are numbered and dated, the same for every player, and the page says they appear at midnight in your own time zone, though the day's set actually goes live at 13:00 UTC; earlier days stay playable in the archive. The site is free with ads, and a premium plan removes them.

How to play Einstein Enigmas (Puzzleship)

  1. Open Einstein Enigmas and pick one of the day's six puzzles from the row of light bulbs, one bulb for very easy up to six for ultra hard.
  2. Read the clues in the panel under the board; start with ones that name a house.
  3. Tap a cell in a house's row to select it, then pick its emoji from the options offered.
  4. Use pairing and negative clues to narrow the rest; each item appears in one house only.
  5. Finish when every clue has struck itself out.

Tips

  • Anchor items with absolute clues first; pairing clues need an anchor.
  • Negative clues are cheap progress on a short row.
  • Read clues that mention the same item together.
  • Treat clues that have not struck out as unspent information.
