The Cruci Veloz icon: a small crossword grid with the letters M and C

Cruci Veloz is the express crossword in the games section of the Barcelona newspaper La Vanguardia. Each day there is a small 5x5 grid with five clues across and five down, in Spanish. Its own tagline calls it the ideal pastime for crossword lovers who do not have much time. The same daily puzzle also appears in the Argentine paper Clarín.

About Cruci Veloz (La Vanguardia)

Cruci Veloz, un crucigrama versión exprés, is a mini crossword. The grid is five squares by five, with a black square or two, and there are around five clues in each direction. The clues are short and direct: on 3 October 2026 they included Hurto and Sector para el peatón.

The aim, in the game's words, is to fill every square with the right words for the clues so that all the words cross correctly. Clues can be definitions, synonyms, phrases or wordplay. The game times you, and keeps an average for all players and the share of players who solved the day's grid. If you give up, you can ask for the solution, but the game then counts the puzzle as incomplete in your statistics, which also keep your current and best streak.

The games on La Vanguardia's page are made by Quality Games, which supplies the same daily puzzles to other Spanish-language papers, including Clarín in Argentina. A new grid is published each day.
