Crossing the Lexicon Daily #625 in play: CLIMB runs down from a laurel and RAM starts on another, with the letter rack below and par 10

Crossing the Lexicon is a word puzzle about building bridges out of words. Each day's numbered board has a few laurel squares and a rack of letters: spell words across and down until every laurel is linked, using fewer tiles than par for three stars and beating it for a crown. Outside the daily there are hundreds of levels and the original daily boards to play.

About Crossing The Lexicon

Crossing the Lexicon is a word puzzle from VIERTE Development, an Australian studio, played in the browser at play-lexicon.com and in an Android app. Its daily boards are numbered by the days since 1 February 2025, so the board on 19 October 2026 is Daily #625.

Each board is a grid with a few gold laurel squares, sometimes a few stone squares that cannot hold a tile, and a rack of letters below. You tap a square and type, or tap tiles from the rack, to lay words across or down. Every run of letters has to be a real word and every tile has to touch the rest, and the job is done when one connected web of words joins all the laurels. Valid words turn gold as soon as they are complete.

The score is the number of tiles you used. Each board has a par: finish at par for three stars and beat it to take the crown. There is nearly always more than one route, so the first answer you find is rarely the shortest. A hint lays down a word that works, which gets you to the end but not by the best route.

The daily board is the same for everyone, gets harder through the week and keeps a streak. In October 2026 the game was rebuilt: alongside the daily there is now a run of levels that grow from a few seconds to bigger boards with stone squares (500 on the website, 300 in the Android app), and 584 boards of the original daily game, from February 2025 to early October 2026, live on under Classic.

It suits players who like laying tiles in Scrabble but would rather chase a tight target than an opponent's score.

How to play Crossing The Lexicon

  1. Open play-lexicon.com, which starts you on the levels, and tap Daily for today's board (or go straight to play-lexicon.com/#/daily).
  2. Tap a laurel or another square to aim; tap it again to switch between across and down.
  3. Type letters, or tap them in the rack, to lay a word from that square. Valid words turn gold.
  4. Keep adding crossing words until one connected web of words joins every laurel. Stone squares cannot hold a tile.
  5. Use Undo, Delete or Clear to rework your route, and try to finish at or under par for three stars or the crown.

Tips

  • Look first for one word that runs from a laurel straight toward another, then branch to the rest from its letters.
  • Short words that cross an existing word in the middle often save more tiles than one long detour.
  • You will not always need every letter in the rack: leftover tiles cost nothing.
  • A hint always gets you through, but it will not find the shortest route, so try for par first.

Questions

Is the daily board the same for everyone?

Yes. Each daily board is numbered and picked by date, so everyone plays the same one that day.

When does a new board come out?

At midnight on your own device's date, so the new board arrives at local midnight wherever you are.

What are par, stars and the crown?

Par is the tile count to aim for. Finish at par for three stars, and use fewer tiles than par to take the crown.

Is there an app?

Yes, on Android. It plays offline and its Google Play listing says it contains ads; the website shows none.

Can I play older boards?

The boards from the original daily game are kept under Classic, and there is a separate run of levels to work through.
