Cluest #1023 board for Oct 19, 2026: a grid of farmer, doctor and astronaut suspects, with Fred's card face up saying Thor is among the 3 criminal astronauts, and six difficulty tabs above

Cluest is a deduction puzzle on Puzzleship. A grid of suspects, each with a name and an occupation, hides a number of criminals. Each correct call flips a card and reveals that suspect's clue, and you can only call someone whose status the evidence already proves.

About Cluest (Puzzleship)

Cluest lays out a grid of suspects, each with a name, a job and a grid label such as A1. A few cards start face up. Every card you correctly call innocent or criminal turns over and gives its clue, which might name a person directly or count how many of an occupation are innocent, or how many criminals neighbour someone. A few suspects only offer banter, which you can set aside.

The rule that makes it work is that you cannot guess. If you try to call a suspect whose status is not yet proven, the game says there is not enough evidence and nothing is lost. So every flip is earned, and the puzzle is a chain of small proofs, often starting from clues that fix a total, such as one of two innocent firefighters.

You can mark suspects with pencil colours, dim cards whose clues are used up, and ask for a two-stage hint that first points at the clue to read and then at the suspect it resolves. Puzzleship publishes six numbered boards a day, from very easy to ultra hard, growing in size, at 13:00 UTC (the page text says midnight your time, but the countdown runs to 13:00 UTC), and keeps the rest in the archive. It is free with ads, with a premium plan.

It suits fans of Clues by Sam and other proof-only deduction games.

How to play Cluest (Puzzleship)

  1. Open Cluest and pick one of the day's six boards from the difficulty tabs above the grid.
  2. Read the clues on the cards that start face up.
  3. Tap a suspect and call them Innocent or Criminal, but only when the clues prove it.
  4. Read the clue revealed by each correct call and use it for the next deduction.
  5. Keep going until every suspect is identified.

Tips

  • Clues that count a group are the strongest; they fix a total.
  • Check occupations with only one or two members first.
  • Corner suspects have only three neighbours, so neighbour counts pin them quickly.
  • When stuck, ask what a clue forbids rather than what it proves.

Questions

How many Cluest puzzles are there a day?

Six boards, from very easy to ultra hard.

When do new boards appear?

At 13:00 UTC each day. The page text says midnight your time, but the countdown on the page runs to 13:00 UTC, which is 1:00 PM in London in winter and 9:00 AM in New York in summer.

What happens if I guess?

Nothing is lost: the game only lets you call a suspect whose status the clues already prove.

Is there a hint?

Yes. It first highlights the clue to read, then the suspect it resolves.
