xdle
Rate itWordle if you really like maths: find the day's three-digit number from number-theory clues.
on zaratustra.itch.io

xdle, written with an italic x, is a daily number puzzle on itch.io that its maker describes as Wordle if you really like math. You have six guesses to find a hidden three-digit number, and each guess comes back with clues about primes, powers and divisors linking it to the answer.
About xdle
xdle swaps Wordle's letters for digits. The board has six rows of three boxes and a keypad of 0 to 9. You enter a three-digit number and press Enter, and a line of clues appears beside it. The first clue says whether the hidden number, called x, is higher or lower than your guess. The rest come from number theory: whether x is a multiple of your guess or a power of it, the largest divisor the two share, and facts about the numbers themselves such as being prime, a square or a cube, how many prime factors they have and their largest prime divisor. You work from those relations to pin down x.
There are two modes. Daily xdle is numbered, a new one each day, the same for everyone; the count starts on 23 May 2022, and number 1612 fell on 21 October 2026. The hidden number is anywhere from 2 to 999, picked by a random generator seeded with the day's number. Free xdle lets you play as much as you want with random puzzles. Stats track games played, win rate and streaks for each mode, and results can be copied for sharing, including a Discord format.
The game was made in 2022 by Guilherme S. Töws, who publishes as zaratustra on itch.io, inspired by Josh Wardle's Wordle. It is free, plays in the browser with no account and no ads, and offers colour-blind and black and white themes, a dark mode and a bigger keyboard. It suits players who enjoy primes and divisors more than letters.

Tips
- Start with a number with many small factors, such as 360, so the shared-divisor clue says a lot.
- Use the higher or lower clue on every guess to halve the range, and the divisor clue to pick which numbers inside it to try.
- When the clue names no shared divisor, x has none of your guess's prime factors: that rules out whole families of numbers.
- Keep a list of squares and cubes under 1000 handy.
- Try free xdle to learn how the clues are phrased before the daily.
