on tracellgame.com

Tracell is a daily word puzzle built from 2x2 tiles of letters. Each day there are two boards, Zone and Halo, each with a category such as Movie, Song or Book: you place the tiles on a 6x6 grid so that a path from the entry arrow to the exit spells the hidden title. It is free, has no ads and keeps every past day playable.
About Tracell
Tracell hides a title in a handful of tiny letter tiles. Each tile is a 2 by 2 block of four letters, and the day's board is a 6 by 6 grid with room for nine of them. One or two letters are already fixed on the board where the path enters and leaves, marked by arrows on its edge, and there are more tiles than the solution needs, so one of them is a decoy. Drag the tiles into place until a path running from cell to cell, from the entry arrow to the exit, spells the answer. The puzzle names its category at the top: on recent days it has been a movie, a TV series, a song, a book or a game.
There are two puzzles a day. In Zone each tile carries a number in its centre and a colour, telling you how many of its four letters belong to the path, so a 0 tile can be set aside at once. In Halo the numbers sit in the tile's corners instead and count, for each letter, how many of its neighbours are on the path, and each letter is coloured by its count. On 26 October 2026 Zone and Halo both had a film to find.
A timer runs as you play, five hints are there if you are stuck, and a reset button clears the board. The Past Games page lists every Zone and Halo board from 26 February 2025 on, so newcomers have a long archive to work through.
It suits players who like hidden-phrase puzzles and spatial word games, somewhere between a word search and a sliding tile puzzle, and who know their film, TV, music and book titles.
How to play Tracell
- Open today's Zone or Halo board and read the category above it.
- Find the entry arrow and the exit arrow on the board's edge, beside the letters already in place.
- Read the numbers on the tiles: in Zone the centre number says how many of the tile's letters are on the path; in Halo the corner numbers count each letter's neighbours on the path.
- Drag the 2x2 tiles into the board's nine slots, leaving the decoy out.
- Read the path from the entry to the exit and move tiles until it spells the hidden title.

Tips
- In Zone, set the tile marked 0 aside first: none of its letters are used.
- Guess the title from the category, the fixed first and last letters and the length the numbers add up to, then place tiles to fit it.
- In Halo, tiles whose corners are all 0 can wait: none of their letters touch the path.
- Try a hint before resetting the whole board; the reset clears every tile you have placed.
