Today's Thrice board: round one in Social Sciences for 3 points, the first clue about Urquhart Castle, an answer box, Submit and a link to show the next clue

Thrice is a daily trivia game from the pub quiz company Geeks Who Drink. Each day has five rounds, one from each of its five categories, and each round gives up to three clues that all point to the same answer. Get it on the first clue for three points, the second for two, the third for one, for up to fifteen a day.

About Thrice

Thrice comes from Geeks Who Drink, the Denver company that runs pub quiz nights in bars across the United States. It launched in December 2023 as a browser game that works on phones and laptops, with nothing to download and no account. The company described it as trivia night every day.

A game has five rounds, and the categories are the same every day: Entertainment, Social Sciences, Consumer Stuff, Science and Nature, and Arts and Culture. The first clue is usually the hardest: an obscure fact or a tricky angle on the answer, such as the history of a castle on the shore of a lake. If you do not know, you can ask for the next clue, which comes at the answer from a different direction, and then a third that is plainer still. All three clues in a round share one answer.

Scoring is simple. A correct answer on the first clue earns three points, on the second two, on the third one, so a perfect day is fifteen. A wrong answer costs nothing beyond moving you to the next clue, so it always pays to guess. After each round the game shows the answer with all three clues, and at the end you can copy your score to share it.

A stats page shows, for each category, how many players scored three, two, one or nothing, with the global average beside your own, and lets you look back at the questions of earlier days and the month's easiest and hardest question. The game is free and carries Google ads: banners below the board and, on some turns between rounds, a full-screen ad you close to go on.

Thrice suits people who like pub quizzes and want a quick daily round on their own. The clue ladder means a casual player still gets points, while regulars chase a clean fifteen.

How to play Thrice

  1. Read the category and the first clue of round one.
  2. Type your answer and press Submit.
  3. If you are wrong or unsure, ask for the next clue; all three clues share the same answer.
  4. Score 3 points on the first clue, 2 on the second, 1 on the third.
  5. After each round, read the answer with all three clues, then go on to the next round.
  6. Play all five rounds, then share your score and check the stats page.

Tips

  • Always guess before asking for a clue; a wrong answer costs nothing extra.
  • Look for wordplay in the first clue, such as a name in another language.
  • The category narrows things more than you think, so reread it before guessing.
  • Spelling is forgiving for common answers, but give full names for people when you can.
  • If you get it on a late clue, read the earlier ones afterwards; the same angles come up again.
