The Blank Page is a free browser word game in which a ghost writes a hidden word one letter at a time and picks each letter to keep as many words possible as it can. Its Daily page gives everyone the same word each day, with a streak and a result to share; an endless run of ghosts sits beside it.
About The Blank Page
The Blank Page is a word-guessing game released on itch.io in October 2026 by IDBProductions. A ghost writes a word on a lined page, one letter at a time, and you try to name it before the page fills. You type a word and press Enter, and the game marks which letters are in the right slot and which are not in the word at all.
The twist is that the ghost plays against you. Before each letter it pauses and chooses whichever letter keeps the most words alive, and a counter shows how many words still fit what you have seen. Name its exact word too early and it can erase your answer, and the letters you learned with it, then carry on writing faster; it only has a few of these rewrites, so the aim is to make it spend them and then corner it when the counter reaches one.
The Daily page is one word a day, the same for every player, with a streak and a result you can share. The free version also has an endless run through six ghosts; a paid download adds more ghosts, a Blitz mode, a Blind Page mode and an archive of the daily pages you have played.
It suits Wordle players who want a guessing game that pushes back, and it runs in the browser, on a phone or offline.
How to play The Blank Page
- Open the Daily page from the game's menu.
- Watch the ghost write letters on the page and the counter of words that still fit.
- Type a word and press Enter: you see which letters sit in the right slot and which are not in the word.
- Use the counter and the ghost's pauses to narrow the word down without naming its exact word too early.
- Name the word once only one fits, then share your result.

- A long pause before a letter means the ghost is running out of words that keep you confused.
- Guess words that rule letters out rather than ones that hit the ghost's word early: an early hit costs you the letters you learned.
- You get roughly two to four attempts per word, so make each one split the remaining words.
- Click or tap the writing line before you type. Today's ghost starts writing as soon as the Daily Page opens and an eight-letter page can fill in under fifteen seconds.
