Today's Tastedle board: a photo of a golden plate of honey-glazed dough balls with sprinkles, four clue buttons, a guess of Spain marked same region and a hint that the dish is from Europe

Tastedle shows a photo of a mystery dish and asks which country it comes from. You can unlock clues, main ingredients, cooking method, flavour and when it is eaten, each for a few points, and you have six guesses. The right sub-region or continent still scores part of the points.

About Tastedle

Tastedle is a daily world-food guessing game built for people who know food rather than maps. Each day it shows one dish in a photo, and your job is to name its country of origin. The site's own example: fish sauce and lemongrass point to Southeast Asia, while saffron and a wide pan say Spain.

Each dish starts at 5,000 points. Four clues can be unlocked: main ingredients, cooking method, and flavour and style for 300 points each, and when it is eaten for 200. You type a country and have six guesses. A wrong guess tells you whether you were in the same region, and the game then names the dish's continent. The full remaining score goes to the right country, half to the right sub-region and a fifth to the right continent, so a close guess is not wasted.

The game started in June 2026 and works through a bank of 1,043 dishes, one a day, so the bank lasts for years. Dish facts and photos come from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons under CC BY-SA, credited under each image.

Beyond the daily dish, the site has a daily Food Connections board that sorts sixteen dishes into four countries, an unlimited mode with a random dish each round, a Higher or Lower game about which dish is better known, and cuisine pages. It is free with no account and no ads; stats and streaks stay on your device. It suits anyone who cooks, travels or orders widely and wants a food question rather than a map.

How to play Tastedle

  1. Open tastedle.com and look at the photo of today's mystery dish.
  2. If you are unsure, unlock clues: main ingredients, cooking method, flavour and style, and when it is eaten, each costing points.
  3. Type the country you think it is from and press Guess.
  4. Read the feedback: a guess in the same region says so, and after a miss the game tells you the dish's continent.
  5. You have six guesses; the right region or continent still earns part of the points.
  6. Share your result when you solve it or run out.

Tips

  • Guess before unlocking clues if the dish looks familiar: every clue costs points.
  • The cooking method clue is often the most telling: tandoor, wok or clay pot narrow the region fast.
  • If you know only the region, guess a large country there: a sub-region match still pays half.
  • Use Unlimited mode to learn regional dishes you do not know.
