Suspectle's deduction board for the 20 October 2026 case: a pixel-art 5 by 5 floor plan of four rooms with chairs, tables and a bookcase, and a guided first-move hint below

Suspectle is a free murder-mystery logic puzzle with a new dated case on most days. Each case puts a few suspects on a small floor plan of rooms and furniture; you place each one in their own row and column from the clues, and whoever shares the victim's room is the killer. Every case solves by reasoning alone, with no sign-in and no ads.

About Suspectle

Suspectle gives you a case file: a setting such as Ashcombe Manor, the Valley Dig or Vestfjell Station, a handful of suspects, a victim and a short list of clues. On 20 October 2026 the case was Footsteps on the Cellar Stair, a Starter case with four suspects on a 5 by 5 plan of the Billiard Room, Morning Room, Library and Drawing Room, and four clues.

The board is a top-down floor plan drawn in pixel art. Squares with furniture are taken, except chairs a suspect can sit in, and rooms are patches of matching floor. Each suspect stands in a row and a column no one else uses. The clues say who was beside a bookcase, in an armchair or north of someone, and once everyone is placed the victim takes the last legal square. The suspect in the same room is the murderer. Every case is checked to be solvable without guessing.

Cases come in four levels, Starter, Standard, Tricky and Case File, with grids up to 7 by 7 and ten clues at the harder end. The game marks a clue the board breaks, gives hints on request, and a first-time player can ask for a guided first move. Past daily cases stay in an archive, and the rest of its 62 cases can be played at any time.

The same site runs Break the Story, a five-part suspect statement to put in order in eight attempts with its own daily, plus Sort the Evidence and Piece the Scene, which add new puzzles less often. It is free in the browser with no account and no ads, and it suits players who like a short whodunit with a provable answer.

How to play Suspectle

  1. Open today's case and read the case file, the suspects and the clues.
  2. Skip or read the short introduction, then look at the floor plan: furniture blocks a square unless it is a seat, and rooms are areas of matching floor.
  3. Select a suspect and tap a square to place them; each row and each column holds one person.
  4. Use the clues to rule squares out, and switch on Pencil to note the two or three squares still open for someone.
  5. When every suspect is placed, the victim takes the last legal square; whoever shares that room is the murderer.

Tips

  • Start with clues that name a single piece of furniture; they often leave one square.
  • Tap a clue to see it drawn on the board before you place anyone.
  • New players can begin with the Starter case The Locked Library or use the guided first move, which does not count as a hint.

Questions

Is there a new Suspectle case every day?

Most days. Each floor-plan case has its own date in the daily archive; since late September a new one has come about every other day, and Break the Story has its own daily statement on many of the days between.

Do I ever have to guess?

No. Every case is checked to be solvable by reasoning alone.

Is it free, and does it have ads?

It is free in the browser with no sign-in, and the pages load no ad scripts or ad slots.

Can I play more than the daily case?

Yes. Past daily cases stay in the archive and all 62 floor-plan cases can be played at any time, along with the Break the Story statements.
