About STAT Mini Crossword

STAT, the news site that covers health, medicine and the life sciences, launched the STAT Mini in 2025 as part of its tenth anniversary. It is a small crossword in the style of the newspaper minis, solved right on STAT's own page, with a new grid every weekday.

A day's puzzle has just a handful of across and down clues, and many of them come from STAT's beat: drugs, diseases, anatomy, research and the people and companies in biotech, mixed with ordinary crossword fill. You type the answers into the grid until every square is filled, which takes most solvers a few minutes.

There is a new mini from Monday to Friday and none at weekends. STAT's free Morning Rounds newsletter carries updates on the crossword. It suits people who work in or follow health and science, and any mini-crossword solver who wants a themed one with their coffee.
