Songless is the music game on Lessgames. Each day it plays three well-known songs, one in each of its All, Rock and Hip Hop categories, in tiny slices that start at about a tenth of a second, and you have five tries to name each one before the clip reaches 15 seconds.
About Songless
Songless is one of the small daily games on Lessgames, a site that also runs Wordless, Mapless, More/less, Clueless and a Spelling Bee. Its pitch is in the site's own description: you know this song, but can you name it from just 0.1 seconds? The answer is always a familiar track, and the challenge is how little of it you need.
The first clip is a fraction of a second, barely more than a single note or drum hit. If you cannot place it, you skip or guess, and the next clip is longer: about half a second, then 2 seconds, 8 seconds and finally 15 seconds. That makes five tries in all. You pick your answer by searching for the title or artist, so you only have to recognise it, not spell it. When the round ends, the song plays in full on the results screen.
There are three daily categories, each with its own song: All, which draws on popular music in general, Rock and Hip Hop. The daily songs began on 29 August 2025, the game's settings never reuse a song, and Lessgames counts each day on New York time. Your results build a streak, and you can share them as a grid of squares without spoiling the answer.
Playing today's songs is free and needs no account; the page carries ads. Signing in keeps your stats across devices. A Lessgames subscription removes the ads and opens the archive, so you can go back to the days you missed.
How to play Songless

- Once you name the song or use up your tries, hear it in full and share your result.

Tips
- Listen for texture rather than melody at first: a distorted guitar, a drum machine or a breathy vocal says a lot in a tenth of a second.
- Play the category you know best first, then try the others for a harder test.
- Skip rather than guess when the first clip means nothing to you; a longer clip is worth more than a random answer.
- Play the clip more than once before deciding; short sounds are easy to mishear the first time.
