Soccer Wordle (Draft Challenger)

Soccer Wordle is part of Draft Challenger, a sports site that runs daily player boards for ten sports and leagues beside its all-time draft game. Its own line is one player, follow the clues: a hidden player a day and a fixed number of guesses.

On the Wordle board you type a player's name, pick them from the list and press Guess. The row compares them with the answer on club, league, position, height, country and age. Each tile shows a match, a close miss or a miss, and arrows on height and age point toward the answer. Eight names is the limit.

Classic is harder. The answer can come from any era back to 1929, across the major European leagues and the international game. The board opens with the era, the length of the career, the role the day is scored on (attackers, for example) and a worked example row. The club city appears after four misses, and after seven you get one more exact fact and the option to open the answer. Each guess is set against the answer's real season: position, season, club, goals and assists, appearances, starts, minutes and first and last year, with arrows toward the right numbers.

Both boards change at midnight US Eastern time, the same for everyone, and keep separate streaks on your device. A finished board can be shared. Below the boards the site runs a draft game, spinning club eras to build an all-time eleven. It suits fans who know club squads across Europe and want something deeper than a name and a flag.
