Sladder Daily is a free word puzzle on itch.io and Android that mixes a word ladder with a sliding-tile grid. The board shows a five-letter ladder, such as WORDS down to HELLO, with its middle rungs shuffled; slide rows left and right and columns up and down until every rung reads again.
About Sladder Daily
Sladder Daily is made by vps and has been on itch.io since November 2022, playable in the browser, with an Android edition called Word Sladder Daily Puzzle on Google Play. Its name joins slide and ladder, which is the whole idea.
A word ladder runs down the board, from a top word to a bottom word, each rung one letter away from the last. The top and bottom words are given; the rungs between are scrambled. You move whole rows sideways and whole columns up or down, like a sliding puzzle, until each row spells its word. In Easy mode a tile turns green when its letter is in the right place and red when it is not. In Hard mode, which comes on Mondays, the colour of the letter and the colour of the tile each tell you something: yellow for the right column, blue for the right row. When you finish, the game shows how long you took.
The board carries the date. In the browser version we found the same ladder, WORDS to HELLO, on 7 and 19 October 2026, scrambled differently each time the page loads, so the browser board is not one shared puzzle a day. The game says it is free with no ads or in-app purchases; on Android a paid Pro edition adds five daily categories with four, five and six letter ladders.
It suits players who like word ladders and sliding puzzles and want both at once.
How to play Sladder Daily
- Open Sladder Daily in the browser on itch.io, or the Android app, and wait for the dated board.
- Read the top and bottom words of the ladder: they stay fixed.
- Slide rows left or right and columns up or down to move the scrambled letters between them.
- Use the tile colours to see which letters are in place, and restore every rung to finish.

- Fix whole columns before rows: a column move shifts every rung at once.
- Save Hard mode for Monday, when the row and column colours both count.

Is there a new puzzle every day?
The board shows the date and switches to Hard mode on Mondays. In the browser version the ladder itself was the same WORDS to HELLO on 7 and 19 October 2026, scrambled anew on each load; the Android app has the Daily Edition.
Is it free?
Yes, free in the browser on itch.io and on Android, with no ads; a paid Pro edition on Android adds more daily categories.
What is Hard mode?
A Monday mode where the letter colour and the tile colour each give a clue: yellow for the right column, blue for the right row.
