on cluexy.com

Cluexy is a daily word chain. Each link shows a clue word, and you spell the word that pairs with it to make a compound or phrase, like egg and shell for eggshell, from a row of letter tiles. Your answer becomes the next clue, and five links finish the chain.
About Cluexy
Cluexy gives everyone the same numbered chain each day; chain 113 on 21 October 2026 started from TRUCK, and its first answer, STOP, became the clue for the second link. Two words can join to make a compound or phrase, egg + shell = eggshell, and each link asks you to find the word that completes the pair with the clue in front of you. A row of chips across the top shows the whole chain, with the length of each hidden word marked by question marks.
You spell each answer by tapping letters from a small set of tiles, with empty squares showing how long the word is; the answer is checked as soon as the squares are full. You get four tries per link and three hearts for the chain. A hint button gives a short plain-English meaning of the missing word, paid for with coins earned by winning, and coins can also buy back your hearts or save a winning streak after a loss. A timer runs, and the fastest solvers of the day appear on a leaderboard if you sign in, though the daily plays without an account.
A calendar marks the days you won, lost or missed, a stats panel counts your streaks, and a practice chain picked at random is there once the daily is done. The chains come from a fixed bank of 183, so a chain returns after about six months.
The game was shared on Show HN in July 2026 by a parent whose nine-year-old came up with the idea. The words and hints are simple, which makes it a gentle daily for children and a quick warm-up for adults.

Tips
- Try the clue as both the first and second half of a compound.
- Count the empty squares first: the answer's length narrows the options a lot.
- Look at the next chip's length too: the word you choose has to lead on to a word of that size.
