on scraple.io

Scraple gives everyone the same rack of 18 letter tiles and a small 5x5 board with four bonus squares each day. You drag tiles to form crossing words, as in Scrabble, watch your score add up word by word, and press Finish when you are done; invalid words cost points. Finishing unlocks a timed Blitz board and a daily leaderboard.
About Scraple
Scraple is a daily word-building puzzle in the style of Scrabble, on a board only five squares wide. It is made by a developer who signs as James and keeps the code on GitHub, and has been running since 2025. Each date has its own board: one double letter, one triple letter, one double word and one triple word square in new spots, and a rack of 18 letter tiles with their point values, from one-point vowels to eight-point J and ten-point Q.
You drag letters onto the board to make words of at least two letters, reading across to the right or downwards. Every tile has to touch another, words may cross, and each word on the board counts. There is no limit on moves while you build: a panel lists each word and its points as you go (a J on the triple word square inside JAM is worth 36 on its own), Shuffle rearranges the rack, Reset clears the board, and Finish locks in your score. Words that are not valid are taken off your total.
After the daily you can see where you rank on the day's leaderboard under a nickname, look at the boards of the top players word by word, compare with ScrapleBot's own board for the day, and share an image of your board. Finishing the daily also opens Blitz, a second board of the day played against a clock with its own leaderboard, and a Practice mode deals new boards whenever you like.
The challenge is fitting high-value letters onto the bonus squares while keeping every crossing a real word, on a board far too small for the whole rack. It suits players who enjoy Scrabble scoring more than guessing games, and it plays the same on a phone as on a desktop.
How to play Scraple

- Keep every tile touching another; words may cross and every word formed counts.
- Put high-value letters on the double and triple squares and watch the word list add up your score.
- Press Finish when you cannot improve your score; invalid words cost points.
- Check the day's leaderboard and ScrapleBot's board, then play the timed Blitz board if you want more.

Tips
- Plan around the triple word square first: a word through it with an eight-point letter scores most.
- Short crossing words like two-letter plays add up on a small board.
- Check every cross word before you finish, since invalid ones subtract points.
- Use Shuffle to spot words in the rack you had missed.
- Practice mode deals new boards at any time, so try a layout idea there before the daily.
Questions
Is Scraple the same as Wordle?
No. Despite the name, you build words with scored tiles on a board, as in Scrabble; nothing is hidden.
Do I have to use every tile?
No. The board is only 5x5 and the rack has 18 tiles, so you choose which ones to place.
What happens with invalid words?
Points are deducted for them.
When does a new board come out?
At midnight Eastern Time, when the date on the page changes.
What is Blitz mode?
A second board of the day, unlocked once you finish the daily, played against a timer with its own leaderboard.
Is Scraple free?
Yes. It is free in the browser, with no ads and no account needed; a nickname is only for the leaderboard.
