on pokedle.net

Pokédle is a daily guessing game with four puzzles, each hiding a Pokémon from the first generation. In Classic you compare traits in coloured columns; the other modes give a blurred trading card, a Pokédex sentence or a zoomed-in silhouette. Everyone in the same time zone gets the same Pokémon, and a streak counts the days you finish.
About Pokédle
Pokédle is a browser game in which you find a Pokémon each day. It follows the format of LoLdle, the League of Legends guessing game by the same maker, Benjamin Widawski, and swaps champions for Pokémon. It is a fan project: the site states that Nintendo does not endorse or sponsor it. Every answer comes from the first generation, the original 151 Pokémon, and the page says so above each puzzle.
A day starts in Classic mode. You type the name of any first generation Pokémon and the game lays out its properties next to the hidden one: first and second type, habitat, colours, evolution stage, height and weight. Green tiles match, orange tiles match in part, and red tiles do not, with an arrow on the number columns telling you whether the answer is higher or lower. A Partial types switch, on by default, decides whether a type that sits in the other column counts as a partial match. After a few wrong guesses clues open: the Pokémon's ability, then its card, then its Pokédex description.
The other three modes each hide their own Pokémon for the day. Card shows a blurred trading card that sharpens with each guess. Description gives a Pokédex sentence with the name left out, with its types offered as clues after more tries. Silhouette shows a close-up of the Pokémon's shadow that zooms out a little with each try. Every mode names yesterday's answer under the board.
The site keeps a streak of days won and a statistics page, and you can share a summary of the day. You pick a Europe or America time zone, which decides when the new Pokémon arrive, and the screens can be switched to more than twenty languages. Earlier Cry and Infinite modes are no longer offered: the home menu lists only the four daily modes, and the old Infinite address leads to the site's not found page. It suits players who know the original Pokédex well and want a few minutes' daily check of that knowledge.
How to play Pokédle
- Open Pokédle and choose the Europe or America time zone in the settings.
- In Classic mode, type the name of any first generation Pokémon and submit it.
- Read the tiles: green is an exact match, orange is a partial match, red is no match, and arrows show whether the evolution stage, height or weight of the answer is above or below your guess.
- Keep guessing, opening the ability, card and description clues as they unlock, until you name the Pokémon.
- Play Card, Description and Silhouette, each with its own Pokémon for the day, then share your results.

Tips
- Pin down the first type early: it splits the 151 Pokémon faster than any other column.
- Colour is often a partial match because many Pokémon have more than one colour, so use orange there to rule colours in rather than out.
- In Description mode, look for words about habitat or diet that point to a type.
- In Silhouette mode, guess a Pokémon with a similar outline even if you are unsure: each try zooms out and shows more of the shape.
- The answers are only from the first generation, so leave later Pokémon out of your guesses.

At midnight UTC+2 on the Europe time zone and at midnight UTC-6 on the America time zone. You choose the zone in the game's settings.

Who makes Pokédle?
Benjamin Widawski, who also makes LoLdle, Smashdle, Dotadle, Narutodle and Onepiecedle.
