Today's Petals board for October 26 in the browser: a 6 by 6 grid of pastel yellow, pink and green flower tiles at seed, sprout and leaf stages, score 0 and a 1:30 clock

Petals is a short match-and-merge game played on a 6 by 6 board of flowers. Each day everyone gets the same board and 90 seconds to drag chains of three or more matching petals, grow them from seed to bloom and pop the blooms for points. The browser version plays the daily board with no install, and the free iPhone app adds weekly boards, streaks, leaderboards and live play against friends.

About Petals

Petals mixes match-3 with the merging idea of 2048. The board is a 6 by 6 grid of flower tiles in a few pastel colours, each at a stage of growth: a seed, a sprout, a bud. Dragging a line through three or more tiles of the same colour grows them a stage, and a tile that reaches full bloom pops and scores. Longer chains give bigger combos.

The daily board is the same for everyone who plays that day, dated by New York time, and the clock of 90 seconds starts only with your first chain. A small twist changes each day: one petal colour quietly pays double, and the game tells you which only at the end, so the best route is not obvious from the start.

The web page at petals-daily.netlify.app plays today's board in the browser for free with no sign-up, though scores there are not ranked. The iPhone app, Petals by Simon & Gina, published by Ximeng Li in 2026, is free as well and adds ranked daily and weekly boards, streaks, global leaderboards, an endless merge mode, free play to send to a friend, and live group challenges with power-ups such as Frost, Scramble and Wilt.

It suits players who like a quick score attack more than a slow deduction puzzle: one board, a minute and a half, and a number to compare.

How to play Petals

  1. Open today's board; it is the same 6 by 6 grid of flowers for everyone.
  2. Drag through three or more touching tiles of the same colour to grow them one stage, from seed to sprout to bud.
  3. Grow a tile to a full bloom and it pops for points; longer chains score bigger combos.
  4. Keep chaining until the 90 second clock, which starts on your first chain, runs out.
  5. See your score and which colour paid double today, then share it or play the ranked board in the app.

Tips

  • Look over the board before your first drag: the clock does not start until you make a chain.
  • Chains longer than three are worth more, so link a long run of one colour rather than several short ones.
  • Spread your blooms over different colours, since one colour scores double and you only learn which at the end.

Questions

Is Petals free?

Yes. Today's board plays free in the browser with no account, and the iPhone app is free too; an email is only needed to save progress.

When does the Petals board change?

The board is dated by New York time, so a new one arrives at midnight Eastern Time.

Are browser scores ranked?

No. The web page says scores played there are not ranked; daily and weekly leaderboards and streaks are in the app.
